Apollo Alternatives for Small B2B Teams

The right Apollo alternative depends on which part of Apollo you use. For contact data only, look at Lusha, Cognism or Seamless.AI. For enrichment across many providers, look at Clay. For sending cold email, look at Smartlead, Instantly or lemlist. Many small teams pair one data source with one sender instead of one all-in-one platform.

What does Apollo do, and why do teams look elsewhere?

Apollo.io is two products in one login. It is a B2B contact database, and it is a sales engagement platform with sequences, waterfall and CRM enrichment, a dialer and website visitor identification. Per Apollo, the database holds 240M+ contacts and 30M+ accounts.

As listed on Apollo's pricing page on September 25, 2026, plans are priced per seat per month. Free is $0 with 75 credits a month. Basic is $49 billed annually or $65 billed monthly, with 2,500 credits a month. Professional is $79 billed annually or $99 billed monthly, with 4,000 credits a month. Organization is $119 billed annually, with a minimum of 3 seats. Apollo says annual billing saves 24%, and Basic and Professional come with a 14-day trial. Prices change, so confirm them on Apollo's site before you buy.

Apollo is genuinely good at putting finding and contacting people in one place, which is why so many small teams start there. Teams usually look for an alternative for a practical reason: they only use half of it, they need a different kind of data such as phone numbers or European contacts, they want to combine several data sources, or they want a sending tool built around many mailboxes.

Start with the job, not the brand

Most "Apollo alternatives" lists mix tools that do very different things. A data provider and a cold email sender are not substitutes for each other. Before you compare prices, write down which of these four jobs you actually need done.

  • Database plus sequencing: you want to find contacts and send to them from one tool, as Apollo does today.
  • Data only: you already have a sender or a CRM sequence, and you need emails, phone numbers or enrichment.
  • Enrichment orchestration: you want to query several providers in order, add research, and control exactly which fields you pay for.
  • Sending: you have your data and need a platform built to send cold email from many warmed inboxes.

Data only: Lusha, Cognism and Seamless.AI

Lusha offers B2B contact data and enrichment: bulk, CSV and API enrichment, buying signals and a Chrome extension. Per Lusha, it covers 290M+ verified contacts and 29M+ companies. Its credit rule is simple: revealing an email costs 1 credit and revealing a phone number costs 5 credits. As listed on Lusha's pricing page on September 25, 2026, Free is $0 with 40 credits a month for 1 seat, no credit card. Starter is $49.90/mo billed monthly or $37.45/mo billed yearly, with 400 credits a month. Pro is $69.90/mo billed monthly or $52.45/mo billed yearly, with 600 credits a month and 2 seats. Premium is $399.90/mo billed monthly or $299.95/mo billed yearly, with 3,400 credits a month and 5 seats. Scale is contact sales.

Cognism is B2B data and sales intelligence with a European focus, known for phone-verified mobile data and CRM enrichment. One credit equals one revealed contact. Its pricing is by quote, with Standard and Pro plans that include 5 seats, so ask Cognism for a number.

Seamless.AI offers AI prospecting and contact data: emails, phones, buyer intent, job changes and CRM enrichment. It has a free plan with 50 credits. Pro is sold per user with annual credit packages starting at 10,000 annual credits, and its pricing is by quote through the sales team.

Large providers such as ZoomInfo also sit in this category. We could not verify ZoomInfo's pricing, so check it directly with the vendor.

Enrichment orchestration: Clay

Clay is not a database in the Apollo sense. It lets you buy data from many providers, run waterfall enrichment, use an AI web-research agent called Claygent, track signals such as job changes, and send through a built-in email sequencer. It is strong when one provider leaves gaps and you want control over every field.

Clay bills on two meters: Actions for platform usage and Data Credits for purchased data. As listed on Clay's pricing page on September 25, 2026, Free is $0 with 500 actions and 100 data credits a month. Launch is $185/mo billed monthly or $167/mo billed annually, with 15K actions and 2.5K data credits a month. Growth is $495/mo billed monthly or $446/mo billed annually, with 40K actions and 6K data credits a month. Enterprise is custom. Annual billing saves 10%. If you bring your own API keys, no Data Credits are charged, but each run still uses Actions.

Sending: Smartlead, Instantly and lemlist

Smartlead is cold email infrastructure: unlimited mailboxes, built-in setup and warm-up covering SPF, DKIM, DMARC and sender rotation, a master inbox, AI agents and lead finding. As listed on Smartlead's pricing page on September 25, 2026, Base is $39 a month billed monthly or $32 a month billed yearly for 6,000 sends. Pro is $94 or $78 for 90,000 sends. Unlimited Smart is $174 or $144 for 150,000 sends. Unlimited Prime is $379 or $315 for 500,000 sends. Yearly billing saves 17%.

Instantly is a cold email platform with unlimited email accounts and warm-up, sequences, a unified reply inbox, a lead database and AI reply agents, plus a 14-day free trial with no card. Its outreach plans as displayed on September 25, 2026, monthly: Growth $47/mo for 5,000 emails a month, Hypergrowth $97/mo, Light Speed $358/mo for 500,000 emails a month, and Enterprise custom. Instantly's page showed more than one pricing layout during our check, and yearly prices could not be confirmed, so confirm current plans on its site.

lemlist is multichannel sales engagement: email, LinkedIn and calls, a lead database, a finder and verifier, and warm-up. As listed on lemlist's pricing page on September 25, 2026, billed yearly, the Email plan is $55/mo at 50,000 emails a month with unlimited users, and the Multichannel plan is $87/mo per user. Monthly prices were not confirmed.

What should you check before switching?

A lower sticker price does not always mean a lower bill. Run these checks with your own numbers during a trial.

  • Cost per usable contact: divide what you spend on data and verification for a batch by the number of contacts that pass verification.
  • Credit rules: find out what one credit buys. On Lusha a phone reveal costs five times an email reveal.
  • Seats versus shared plans: per-seat pricing grows with headcount; some sender plans include unlimited users.
  • Billing term: every price above differs between monthly and annual billing. Compare the same term.
  • Verification: know which step checks each address before it is sent, whichever tools you pick.
  • Your own accounts: test a sample of real target accounts, not the vendor's demo list.

When is a managed program the simpler choice?

Splitting Apollo into a data tool plus a sender often saves money and adds control. It also adds work: someone has to connect the tools, verify lists, warm domains, write and approve copy, and read every reply. For a small team, that operator time is usually the real cost. Trexinet runs this system for B2B companies as a managed program, with AI doing research and drafting and a person approving every send. It is one option, alongside doing it yourself.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free alternative to Apollo?

Several tools list free plans. As listed on September 25, 2026, Lusha Free includes 40 credits a month for 1 seat with no credit card, and Clay Free includes 500 actions and 100 data credits a month. Apollo's own Free plan lists 75 credits a month. Test each with your real target accounts.

Is Lusha a good alternative to Apollo?

It depends on the job. Lusha focuses on contact data and enrichment, with a Chrome extension and API. Apollo combines a database with sequences and a dialer. If you already have a sender and mainly need emails or phone numbers, Lusha can fit. If you want one tool that also sends, it is a different category.

What is a good Lusha alternative?

Apollo.io if you also want sequencing in the same tool, Cognism if you need European coverage and phone-verified mobile data, or Seamless.AI if you want prospecting with buyer intent and job changes. Cognism and Seamless.AI Pro are priced by quote. Compare credit rules, seats and billing terms, and test with your own accounts.

Can I replace Apollo with Clay?

Partly. Clay handles enrichment across many providers, AI research and signals, and it has a built-in email sequencer. It is not a single contact database. Many teams use Clay alongside a data provider or Apollo, rather than as a direct swap. Its bill depends on both Actions and Data Credits.

Do vendor prices stay the same?

No. Every price in this article is as listed on the vendor's own pricing page on September 25, 2026, and vendors change plans, credits and billing terms. Instantly's page showed more than one pricing layout during our check. Always confirm the current plan on the vendor's site before you buy.
