How much does Smartlead cost in 2026?
Smartlead has four software plans, as listed on Smartlead's pricing page on October 8, 2026. Base is $39 a month, Pro is $94, Unlimited Smart is $174 and Unlimited Prime is $379, when billed monthly. Billed yearly, the same plans work out to $32, $78, $144 and $315 a month. Smartlead says annual billing saves 17% across all plans.
Every plan comes with a free trial, and Smartlead says no credit card is needed to start. It also says there are no lock-in contracts and you can cancel anytime. On October 8, 2026 the page showed a banner offering 50% off the first month on any plan. Treat that as a promotion that can end at any time.
The table below shows what each plan includes. Prices change, so confirm them on Smartlead's site before you buy.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly (per month) | Contacts (lead credits) | Email sends a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base | $39 | $32 | 2,000 | 6,000 |
| Pro | $94 | $78 | 30,000 | 90,000 |
| Unlimited Smart (most popular) | $174 | $144 | Unlimited | 150,000 |
| Unlimited Prime | $379 | $315 | Unlimited | 500,000 |
Monthly or yearly: what is the real difference?
The yearly discount is real money on a tool you plan to keep. On Base, yearly billing comes to $384 a year, against $468 if you pay month to month. On Pro, it is $936 a year against $1,128.
The trade is flexibility. Monthly billing lets you stop the moment outbound is not working, or move up a plan when volume grows. Yearly billing commits you for twelve months. A sensible path is to start monthly, run a few campaigns, and switch to yearly once you know which plan you actually need.

See GTM engineeringWhat is the difference between lead credits and email credits?
Smartlead counts two things separately, and mixing them up is the most common reason people pick the wrong plan. Per Smartlead's FAQ, a lead credit is a unique email address stored in your account. That is the contacts number. An email credit is each individual email sent. That is the email sends number.
The two counters are separate. Base gives you 2,000 contacts and 6,000 email sends a month. If you send a three-step sequence to every contact, 2,000 contacts use the full 6,000 sends. Add a fourth step and you run out of sends before you run out of contacts.
So work out your plan from your sequence, not just your list size. A simple formula: contacts you want to reach in a month, multiplied by the number of steps in your sequence, equals the email sends you need. Pick the plan whose sends cover that number with some room to spare.
The page also lists verified prospect emails a month for each plan: 2,000 on Base, 30,000 on Pro, 50,000 on Unlimited Smart and 170,000 on Unlimited Prime. Smartlead's FAQ notes that email verification is an add-on, with verification credits bought one-time or monthly, so check what your plan includes before you count on it.
Which add-ons change the bill?
The plan price is only part of the cost. Smartlead says all plans include unlimited email accounts at no extra cost, which means you can connect as many sending inboxes as you like. You still have to pay for those inboxes and domains somewhere. Smartlead sells them, along with other add-ons, as listed on Smartlead's pricing page on October 8, 2026:
- SmartSenders (mailboxes): Google or Outlook mailboxes via Zapmail at $13 per domain a year and $4.5 per mailbox a month. Pre-warmed Google or Outlook mailboxes at $18 per domain a year and $9 per mailbox a month. SMTP via Mailreef at $19 per domain a year and $3.99 per mailbox a month.
- SmartDelivery (inbox placement tests): Growth at $49 a month, Pro at $174 a month, Expert at $599 a month.
- Whitelabel: $29 a month per client workspace. Adding clients is available from Pro, and Unlimited Prime already includes three client workspaces.
- SmartServers (dedicated IP): Pro at $39 per server a month.
- SmartDialer: voice calling credit plans from $9 a month.
- SmartServices (done-for-you outbound): no price listed. The page asks you to book a strategy call.
What does a realistic Smartlead bill look like?
Mailboxes are where the bill grows. For example, 10 Google mailboxes at $4.5 each is $45 a month, plus $13 a year for each domain. You do not have to buy mailboxes from Smartlead. Many teams buy domains and inboxes directly from Google or Microsoft and connect them. Either way, budget for them.
A simple way to estimate your monthly cost: plan price, plus mailboxes multiplied by the mailbox price, plus domains multiplied by the yearly domain price divided by twelve, plus any SmartDelivery or whitelabel add-on. Put your own numbers into that formula before you compare Smartlead with any other tool.
Also count the time. Someone has to set up domains, warm inboxes, build and verify lists, write sequences and read replies. That work often costs more than the software.
Which Smartlead plan fits which team?
Base suits a founder or a single seller testing cold email with a small list. Pro fits a team running steady outbound to a larger list, or an agency adding a few clients. Unlimited Smart, which Smartlead marks as most popular, removes the contact cap and suits teams that store large lists. Unlimited Prime is built for high volume and for agencies, since it includes three client workspaces.
Do not buy for the volume you hope to reach. Buy for what your domains and inboxes can safely send today, and move up when the data says you need to.
What matters more than the Smartlead plan?
Trexinet runs client outbound on Smartlead, so weigh our view accordingly. In our experience, the plan matters far less than three things: list quality, verification and sending infrastructure.
Verify every list before it goes into any sending tool, and suppress bounces between sends. In our own campaign, list verification and suppression cut the hard bounce rate from 11.17% to 0.43%. For a B2B SaaS client in fleet safety, we ran five persona campaigns to 9,962 verified contacts across 35 inboxes. Good results came from clean data and warmed inboxes, not from the software tier.
Use separate sending domains, set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC, warm new inboxes before they send, and spread volume across many inboxes. Our guide to cold email infrastructure covers each step. If you are still choosing a tool, our Instantly vs Smartlead comparison looks at how the two differ.
When does an agency make more sense than buying the tool?
Buying Smartlead gives you a sender. It does not give you a list, copy, domains, reply handling or reporting. If nobody on your team has time to run those pieces each week, the tool will sit idle.
That is the gap a GTM engineering partner fills. Trexinet builds and runs the whole system as a managed program: verified lists, warmed infrastructure, sequences, AI reply triage with a human review gate, CRM sync and reporting. AI does the research and drafting. A human approves every send.

Frequently asked questions
Does Smartlead have a free plan?
No free plan is listed. As listed on Smartlead's pricing page on October 8, 2026, every plan comes with a free trial and no credit card is needed to start. After the trial, the cheapest plan is Base at $39 a month billed monthly, or $32 a month billed yearly.
How much do I save with Smartlead's annual billing?
Smartlead says annual billing saves 17% across all plans. In dollars, Base costs $384 a year billed yearly against $468 billed monthly, and Pro costs $936 a year against $1,128. Start monthly if you are unsure which plan you need, then switch once your volume is steady.
Does Smartlead charge per email account or inbox?
No. Smartlead's FAQ says all plans include unlimited email accounts at no extra cost. You still pay for the mailboxes and domains themselves, either through Smartlead's SmartSenders add-on or directly from Google or Microsoft. That is usually the biggest cost on top of the plan.
What happens if I run out of email sends on Smartlead?
Email sends and contacts are separate monthly counters, so you can run out of one before the other. If your sequences have many steps, sends usually run out first. Check your plan's limits against contacts multiplied by sequence steps, and move up a plan if the numbers do not fit.
Is Smartlead good for agencies?
Smartlead lists a whitelabel add-on at $29 a month per client workspace, with adding clients available from Pro. Unlimited Prime already includes three client workspaces. Agencies should weigh the add-on cost per client against moving up to Unlimited Prime, and confirm current terms on Smartlead's site.
